Impulse of Thankfulness
1 Timothy 1:12-14
The Undeserved Privilege
- I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, that enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, appointing me to the ministry.—verse 12
- I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.—Philippians 4:13
- But I do not consider my life of any account as dear to myself, so that I may finish my course and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify solemnly of the gospel of the grace of God.—Acts 20:24
The Unmerited Mercy
- even though I was formerly a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent aggressor. Yet I was shown mercy because I acted ignorantly in unbelief—verse 13
- But for this very reason I was shown mercy, so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display His perfect patience, as an example to those who would believe in Him for eternal life.—1 Timothy 1:16
The Unmatched Grace
- and the grace of our Lord was more than abundant, with the faith and love which are found in Christ Jesus.—verse 14
- The Law came in so that the transgression would increase; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more—Romans 5:20
- Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.—1 Thess. 5:16-18
