Like labor pain, . . .there is no escape

  • then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.—verse 3

Christ’s Coming is Unsurprising but Inspiring

We are Children the Light and the Day

  • for you are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night nor of darkness; so then let us not sleep as others do, but let us be alert and sober.—verses 5-6

We will Live together with Him

  • For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep, we will live together with Him.—verses 9-10

Proverbs 19:17

GOD RECOGNIZES THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE NEEDY

  • and he will repay him for his deed.—Proverb 19:17a

  • “You shall not wrong a sojourner or oppress him, for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt. You shall not mistreat any widow or fatherless child. If you do mistreat them, and they cry out to me, I will surely hear their cry, . . .—Exodus 22:21-23

  • “When you reap your harvest in your field and forget a sheaf in the field, you shall not go back to get it. It shall be for the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow, that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands..— Deuteronomy 24:19

  • Do not rob the poor, because he is poor, or crush the afflicted at the gate, or the LORD will plead their cause and rob of life those who rob them.— Proverbs 22:22

  • He who oppresses the poor taunts their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors Him.— Proverbs 14:31

  • Whoever gives to the poor will not be in need, but he who hides his eyes will receive many curses.— Proverbs 28:27

GOD REMUNERATES SERVICES RENDERED TO THE NEEDY

  • and he will repay him for his deed.—Proverb 19:17a

  • For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’—Matthew 25:35-36

  • ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’—Matthew 25:40

  • Therefore do not pronounce judgment before the time, before the Lord comes, who will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purposes of the heart. Then each one will receive his commendation from God. —1 Corinthians 4:5
