JONAH: Navigating a Life Interrupted

By Priscilla Shirer

Interruptions. They’re aggravating. Sometimes infuriating. But how we handle interruptions actually tell us more about ourselves. What do we do when God interrupts our lives? Many times, like Jonah, we run! Priscilla redefines interruption and shows that interruption is actually God’s invitation to do something beyond our wildest dreams. When Jonah was willing to allow God to interrupt his life, the result was revival in an entire city

Begins Sept. 18 every Tuesday @ 10:30AM

This is a 7-week study. Study book is $20. Contact Sharon Cohen for more information.

Life’s True Foundation

The Work of Christ

  • For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ—1 Cor. 3:11
  • For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it isthe gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.—Ephesians 2:8-9
  • For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.—Romans 6:23

The Work of Faith

  • But let each man be careful how he builds upon it.—1 Cor. 3:10
  • “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something he sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner.”— John 5:19

The Work of Grace

  • According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I laid a foundation—1 Cor. 3:10
  • “So then, you will know them by their fruits. Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven; but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven. Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’”—Matt 7:20-23
  • “For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain terrifying expectation of judgment, and the fury of a fire which will consume the adversaries.”—Hebrews 10:26-27
  • For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is19For the good that I want, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want.  20But if I am doing the very thing I do not want, I am no longer the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me.—Romans 7:18-20
  • “By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments. The one who says, ‘I have come to know Him,’ and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.”—1 John 2:3-4
