Precious Woman

The Wife of a Man

  • The LORD God fashioned into a woman the rib, which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man. The man said, “This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man.”—Genesis 2:22-23
  • An excellent wife is the crown of her husband, But she who shames him is like rottenness in his bones.—Proverbs 12:4
  • For a man ought not to have his head covered, since he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man.—1 Corinthians 11:7
  • There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for star differs from star in glory.—1 Cor. 15:41

The Type of the Church

The Wondrous Man

 

  • Then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. —Genesis 2:7

Constitutes Incomprehensible Mystery

A Call to Duty

A Call to Obey

  • “This same Jesus.”—verse 11

A Call to be Ready

  • This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.”—verse 11
  • so also Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many; and He will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who eagerly await Him.—Hebrews 9:28
  • BEHOLD, HE IS COMING WITH THE CLOUDS, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the earth will mourn over Him. So it is to be. Amen—Revelation 1:7

The Notable Charge

 The Simple Instruction

  • but to wait for what the Father had promised, “Which,” He said,“you heard of from Me—verse 4b

The Sacred Intention

  • For John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”—verse 5
  • John answered and said to them all, “As for me, I baptize you with water; but One is coming who is mightier than I, and I am not fit to untie the thong of His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.—Luke 3:16

The Significant Location

  • Gathering them together, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem—verse 4a
