Mission Update:

Thimble Club Ministry

Ladies, we need to restock our “New Mommy Blankets”. If you could make a hand/machine sewn, or no-sew/tied, crib-or receiving blanket appropriate for both girls and boys it would be appreciated.

Fabric Needed

Kids on Mission will be sewing portable game pouches for inclusion in our Operation Christmas Child boxes, for Kids on our Adopted Sunday School in Pakistan, as part of our Simple Gifts projects, and for Park Ministry. We could use Muslin for the pouches.

Northwest Impact (Sylvia Wilson)

Missions offering will be taken during the month of September. Offerings remain in the Northwest (Washington, Idaho and Oregon) to assist associational churches, leadership development, and disaster relief. Please use specially-marked offering envelopes, or mark a regular envelope for Northwest Impact.

The Victim

Romans 10:1-11

THE MISGUIDED ZEAL

§  Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.  For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.—verses 1-3

THE MISPLACED CONFIDENCE

§  For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.—Verse 4

THE MISCONSTRUED TRUTH

§  But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.—Verses 8-9

 THE MISCALCULATED SALVATION

§  or with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.  For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.—verses 10-11

Power of Character

Joshua 6:10-16

The Power of Collective Discipline

And Joshua had commanded the people, saying, Ye shall not shout, nor make any noise with your voice, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I bid you shout; then shall ye shout.—verse 10

The Power of Collective Determination

And Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of the LORD. 13And seven priests bearing seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark of the LORD went on continually, and blew with the trumpets: and the armed men went before them; but the reward came after the ark of the LORD, the priests going on, and blowing with the trumpets. 14And the second day they compassed the city once, and returned into the camp: so
they did six days.—verses 12-14

The Power of Collective Faith

And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they rose early about the dawning of the day, and compassed the city a&er the same manner seven times: only on that day they compassed the city seven times. 16And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the priests blew with the trumpets, Joshua said unto the people, Shout; for the LORD hath given you the city.—verses 15-16
